Sangren Hall creates an impressive architectural presence along the Michigan Avenue corridor on Western Michigan University's campus. Hamilton Anderson created a welcoming public space that unifies the area's adjacent student facilities and Sangren Hall, effectively converting the car-focused Michigan Avenue into a pedestrian corridor.

HAA integrated pedestrian circulation routes, service areas and storm water management while transforming the existing parking lot into a student green space and water, featuring unifying open spaces along the corridor between Bronco Plaza and Bernhard Center. This new student gathering place strengthens connectivity to the nearby arts campus and student residential areas, and a central fountain unifies the pedestrian experience throughout the space.
