The expansion project celebrates the music, history, and significance of Motown Records and includes many additions and improvements, ultimately aiming to be an economic and social catalyst."

HAA worked with the Museum to assess its current facilities, outline program needs, develop cost modeling scenarios, and prepare final designs to be used for fundraising materials.

The plan celebrates the music, history, and significance of Motown Records and includes many additions and improvements, including administrative and archiving functions, multi-purpose space, exhibits, and a small theater/entertainment venue. The design process yielded a solution for the addition while maintaining the street context along West Grand Boulevard. Site work includes a new entry plaza to the campus, celebrating the front porch vibe that was a key to Motown’s creative culture
