HAA provided landscape architecture and site design services for Grand Valley State University's Pew Library. The design elements work together to highlight the site's dynamic typography. The overall project is designed to achieve a LEED Platinum rating from the USGBC and serves as an educational tool for students and the larger community.

Unique student spaces emphasize the building entrances. Terraced seating, elegantly blended steps and sloped walks are sculptural while providing universal access. The lower plaza, with permeable modular pavers, takes advantage of the adjacent rain garden as its focal point. Storm water that overflows the on-site infiltration capacity is carried to a campus-wide storm water pond and created wetland.
