[+]BRUSH PARK PARCELS A/B MASTER PLAN
AWARD: 2016 CONGRESS OF NEW URBANISM GRAND PRIZE,2016 MICHIGAN SOCIETY OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS MERIT AWARD
HAA is collaborating with Bedrock Real Estate Services to develop a mixed-use development in Detroit’s historic Brush Park neighborhood. The development of Parcels A+B, 8.4 acres in the heart of Brush Park, in tandem with a comprehensive vision for all of Brush Park, is considered the first phase towards reinventing ‘urban living’ in Detroit – a sustainable, walkable environment for a diverse community of existing and future residents. Parcels A+B contains 43 vacant parcels and four historic structures. The mixed-use project vision includes architectural diversity, historic preservation, the ‘mews’ (a string of parks), neighborhood retail, alleys as sustainable infrastructure, green roofs, and shared transportation systems. The project averages 40 residential units per acre and will include approximately 400 residential units, 470,500 SF of residential space, 10,000-20,000 SF of retail/commercial space, and 71,715 SF of public and private open space.
HAA is responsible for the form-based design guidelines, planning services, and landscape architecture for the entire project area as well as the architectural design of three of the buildings.
